		<description>I always love reading your blog entries, Derek! I also remember my own Tu B&#039;Shvat seders at the synagogue where I grew up: swirling white &amp; red grape juice, a variety of fruits and nuts, talk about the land of Israel, etc. Very interesting experiences you are having; how enriching! I admire your scholarship and dedication to understanding. Totally your personality to want to learn in the Beis Medrash alone ;) I&#039;m so glad you&#039;re gaining so much from this experience! =)</description>

		<description>Well done, Ben!  I think you summarized Prof. Kugel&#039;s main ideas quite well.  As for that God thing, you are correct that much has been done that is destructive in the name of God; but much has also been done in His name that has benefited humanity, the poor, etc.  
In the end, like almost anything else in the world, Torah and God can be used for good, and for evil.
And one more thing: the greatest mass murderers of history (Stalin, Hitler, Mao) had no God.</description>
