[PEP Student] “Root Down and Rise Up”

Posted on January 9, 2011 by Tamara Frankel

Dear Friends, As I sit to write a dvar Torah this week, I find myself overwhelmed with ideas to share. Thank God, I had the privilege of preparing and learning a lot of Torah from my peers this past week, as we (in the Pardes Educators Program) planned a day of text-study and hands-on learning Continue Reading »

Psalmist and Prophet

Posted on December 30, 2010 by Mosheh

The Psalmist is in love, with G-d, with his earthly lover, with being fully Alive.* The Prophet is intimately connected with the Divine Plan and with his community, he / she is deeply pained by our distance, fear, shame, inadequacy, and disconnect from our souls and the Divine Spirit. So he engages, she calls us Continue Reading »

[PEP Student] Parshat Shmot

Posted on December 26, 2010 by Tamara Frankel

Dear Friends, It’s hard to believe how the winter months are passing and in particular, that the ‘holiday season’ is upon us. [Student Profile] Farrah Green

Posted on December 1, 2010 by David Bogomolny

“How do I make a positive impact on Israeli society as a Jew living in America?” Farrah Green contemplates aloud. Farrah has felt a sense of ‘home’ in Israel ever since her March of the Living trip in 2000, and unlike many foreigners studying in Jerusalem she has no sense of being the tourist in Continue Reading »

This semester at Pardes, I am a participant in the “Social Justice Track.” The “Social Justice Track” is so named because it is more than a class that meets for a prescribed period of time each week. We do meet as a class, to read, to debate and to understand classical texts. However, we also Continue Reading »

One of the Poland trip participants wrote an e-mail to her father about the Poland trip, and sent it to me for this Pardes blog… here it is: Hi Poland was an enriching experience. The days were emotionally intense and long and cold, but Rav Levi Cooper–my Hassidic teacher and main tour guide made sure Continue Reading »
