Bruce Shaffer was raised in an assimilation-bent household in the predominantly Jewish neighborhood of Northwest Detroit, fairly typical of what he saw around him. Last Wednesday, some of our Pardes volunteers went out on the annual Yom Iyun shel Chesed (annual Day of Kindness) to organize their food pantry, make sandwiches and prepare dinners as part of the the 300 meals that Ezer Mizion serves every day. It’s a great place to volunteer… and they’re right here in Jerusalem!

Today is the annual Pardes Yom Iyum shel Chesed – the Day of Kindness in commemoration of Benjamin Blutstein and Marla Bennett. In a few minutes, the entire Pardes community is going out to do service throughout Israel in honor of these two amazing individuals whose lives were cut so short.
