Musings from Students of the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem

I want to thank you for making me your official hairdresser this year. The salons in the area were all confused where their Pardes clients had gone! It has been an honor and great experience cutting all of your hair. I did not come into my studies at Pardes thinking that it would be a business endeavor. I figured I would do a few cuts here and there but never on an everyday basis. Don’t worry anyone…I am not going to continue this post with a list of secrets people shared with me while in the salon… one of the best perks of hairdressing! It is amazing though how people open up when they are getting a hair cut. Even the greatest Torah scholars could not focus on a conversation without checking themselves out in the mirror and raving about the structure of their curl. (you know who you are!) It was such a gift to get to know everyone so personally while doing their hair. I feel like it really helped me transition into my time here. The money I earned cutting hair helped supply a multitude of nail polish and manicure equipment as well as hair products for the women’s shelter I volunteer in. Thank you also to Andrea Wiese for bringing a bag of donations from the US for the shelter. I will miss all of my regular clients who are not coming back next year! Please feel free to skype with me to show me a particular good hair day like you would do as you walked by me in the beit midrash!
I will be doing a photo shoot for my portfolio in the end of August. If you are interested in modeling or would like to help with makeup please get in touch with me on facebook!
Peace, love, and good hair days <3
