Musings from Students of the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem

Here is my poem from community lunch:
Hello Pardes, I am here today,
to tell you a little poem that I will now say…
“To be a teacher”, I once heard,
is a great endeavor, was the word…
Summer’s off and shortened days,
these are the stereotypes that some often raise.
But, oh there’s so much more to explore,
how about all the students you will adore?
Or, the moment that a student understands,
how hard it was for Moshe to take a staff in hand.
Or, how about when they realize how cool,
science and pirkei avot can be combined at school!
Ben Zoma would say: Who is wise? One who learns from every man-
At pardes, that is so totally the plan!
My teachers, mentors, and colleagues too,
contributed to my exponential growth, in my humble view.
The support and warmth that I gained here,
has given me the confidence to pursue my career.
תודה רבה לכולם שעזרו לי
I’m floating on air, more than I would at the dead sea!
I will miss all my dear friends that I love,
This place sure fit me like a glove!
Torah became my cup of tea,
with Mishnah as my hot chocolate, you see.
Soon I will be teaching grade five,
In a classroom with students, is where I truly feel alive.
My situation did the opposite of worsen,
2 years and a Master’s degree later, I am a better person!
