Musings from Students of the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem

Most of my family on both sides was killed in the Holocaust and those who were left scattered all over the globe. I spent many years feeling that in order to honor my family members who were murdered, I had to suffer as well. There was a certain threshold of delight past which it felt dangerous to cross. Eventually I came to feel that by living my life as a struggle, I was only adding to the misery in the world. I stand here because of the struggle of those before me, but my task is to unlearn those patterns of hardship to pay tribute to those who perished by living my own life fully, and in beauty.
