On January 15th, I went to Poland with a group of students and faculty from my school. The trip was a “heritage seminar,” an opportunity to explore and appreciate the Jewish vibrancy that existed in Poland prior to World War II, much of which has left an enduring mark on the history of the Jewish people. The famous Beit Sholom Synagogue built by Frank Lloyd is a minutes drive from where I am staying outside Philadelphia! I went for a tour this morning. Next time you’re in Philly you have to visit! It’s magnificent!

The shift from first semester to second semester started during our week off when half of Pardes went on a tiyul to the Arava desert. Over the semester break I went to the Arava, or Eilat mountains in southern Israel with a small group from Pardes. We stayed at Kibbutz Keturah and we had an amazing time!
